Verkhovna Rada Deputy Chairwoman hopes Croatia will continue to support Ukraine

Zagreb - The Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk, called in Zagreb on Wednesday for continued Croatian support to Ukraine in its defence against Russian aggression.

Kondratiuk is on an official visit and was received by Sabor Speaker Gordan Jandroković.

She expressed gratitude for Croatia's extensive support to date, voicing hope for its continuation.

Jandroković emphasised the solidarity of the Croatian people with Ukrainians, especially considering Croatia’s own experience as a victim of aggression. He added that the Croatian government is steadfast in providing humanitarian, political, economic, and military assistance.

He highlighted Croatia's commitment to sharing its experiences during and after the Homeland War, including expertise in demining, care for war veterans, prosecution of war crimes, and various aspects of post-war recovery and reconstruction.

Kondratiuk informed Jandroković on the situation at the front lines, mentioning recent rocket attacks on Kyiv by Iranian-made drones. She said Ukraine’s ultimate goal remains a just and sustainable peace, aligned with the peace formula and victory plan of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The two officials also discussed Ukrainian children deported to Russia during the war, with Jandroković affirming the Croatian parliament's support in raising awareness of this critical issue and its unconditional condemnation of such inhumane actions by the Russian aggressor.

Kondratiuk previously visited Croatia in May 2022, three months after the onset of Russian aggression. In October that same year, Zagreb hosted the first parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform, organised in cooperation between the two parliaments.
