Privacy notice – data collected by means of video surveillance

This privacy notice provides information on collecting and processing of personal data by the Croatian Parliament as the controller and on the protection of data subjects’ rights, and allows for an informed consent for the collection and use of personal data. This privacy notice refers exclusively to the personal data collected by means of a video surveillance system deployed within and around the premises of the Croatian Parliament.

Personal data collected and source of data

In line with the regulations on safety and protection of persons and property, as well as the regulations on occupational safety, the Croatian Parliament uses a video surveillance system deployed in its external and internal spaces (except for offices, bathrooms and changing-rooms). The footage of persons is collected as well as information about their presence in the area covered by video surveillance.
Footage is not searchable by personal data.

Purpose and lawfulness of data processing

The purpose of processing data collected by video surveillance is the safety and protection of persons and property, as well as occupational safety.

Lawful basis for data processing:

• processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller, within the meaning of Article 6, paragraph 1, item (e) of the REGULATION (EU) 2016/679 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (hereinafter: GDPR). The aforementioned tasks and authorities are laid down by the provisions of the GDPR and the GDPR Implementation Act.

Collected personal data shall not be used for automated individual decision-making, including profiling. 

Data recipients

The right of access to data collected by means of video surveillance is granted to persons appointed to carry out business processes based on the Croatian Parliament Staff Service Regulation or by special authorization of the Secretary of the Croatian Parliament, and the system is protected against unauthorized access.

Personal data can be forwarded for use to providers of IT and communication solutions and services who act as processors, and with whom personal data processing has been agreed.

Data collected by video surveillance can be submitted to the competent authorities for inspection upon request if this is necessary for the implementation of procedures based on special regulations.

Storage period

Personal data are stored until the purpose of personal data processing is fulfilled, and no longer than 6 months, unless they are used in evidence in a judicial, administrative, arbitration or other equivalent procedure.

Data subject rights

Your rights are:

• right of access to personal data (since the system is not searchable by personal data, to realize this right, it is necessary to specify the exact time and place of entry into the monitored area)
• right to erasure,
• right to object.

You may send a request for the exercise of your rights to the data protection officer, by letter or email at the above-mentioned addresses.
In the case of suspected infringements with regard to privacy or lawfulness of processing, you have the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority:
