Zagreb - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said in Parliament on Wednesday, while presenting an annual report on the work of his Government, that this year was extraordinary in many regards, with many unprecedented challenges.
The world has been hit by the biggest pandemic since World War I, which has caused the biggest economic and social crisis since World War II; on top of that, Zagreb and its environs were hit by the strongest earthquake in the last 140 years, which caused an estimated HRK 86 billion in damage, the PM said.
Because of all this, we are faced with the biggest health, social and economic challenges since the Homeland War, Plenković said while presenting the report, which the Prime Minister submits to the Parliament once a year, at the start of the Parliament's autumn session.
He recalled that the period from the start of the first term of his Government (October 2016) to the beginning of the global crisis, was marked mostly by positive economic results and the growth of wages and citizens' purchasing power.
