Zagreb - The parliamentary Constitution, Standing Orders, and Political System Committee on Thursday gave a vote of confidence in Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butković for the office of deputy prime minister after the resignation of Finance Minister Zdravko Marić.
After a two-hour hearing, Butković received the votes of seven MPs, while two were against and one abstained. Parliament is expected to uphold his nomination tomorrow.
Butković is the longest-running minister in the incumbent cabinet and he is now expected to be one of the deputy prime ministers alongside Tomo Medved, Davor Božinović and Anja Šimpraga.
"I will try to contribute to the government's work with my experience and, in cooperation with my colleagues, to continue the positive trends, to tackle the coming challenges," Butković told the committee.
