Parliament speaker meets ambassadors of Ukraine, Hungary, China

Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Božo Petrov on Tuesday received the ambassadors of Ukraine, Hungary and China with whom he discussed bilateral relations, and the strengthening of both political and economic cooperation. 

Petrov and Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Levchenko talked about bilateral relations, underscoring good and friendly cooperation and noting that the 25th anniversary of the mutual recognition of Croatia and Ukraine would be marked soon. 

Levchenko briefed Petrov about the current political situation in Ukraine with a special emphasis on Donbass and Crimea, and the implementation of the Minsk Treaty. They also talked about Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations, Croatia's experience from the the process of EU entry negotiations, ways to step up economic cooperation and tourist trade. 

Petrov then received Hungarian Ambassador Jozsef Zoltan Magyar for the talks on Croatia-Hungary cooperation within the EU and about important European topics, such as the future of the EU, the EU budget and the migrant crisis. 

The Croatian parliament Speaker and Chinese Ambassador to Croatia, Deng Ying agreed that the two countries need to step up economic cooperation, both expressing expectation that cooperation would be advanced also within the 16+1 Framework and Economic Relations Between China and the Central and Eastern European Countries. They also discussed preparations for marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Croatia next year.
