Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković extended congratulations to all Roma on the occasion of World Day of Romani Language

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković extended congratulations on Tuesday to all Roma on the occasion of World Day of Romani Language, celebrated on 5 November.

We can be proud and pleased that in May 2012, the Croatian parliament was the first in the world to support the international initiative to establish 5 November as the World Day of Romani Language, Jandroković said at the start of the new and final parliamentary session of the year.

He recalled that this initiative bore fruit three years later when UNESCO declared this date as World Day of Romani Language. Thus, he said, 5 November became one of the most important days for the Roma community worldwide.

The new session, set to last until mid-December, began with Question Time.

The agenda includes 100 items, with more expected to be introduced by the government in the coming weeks.
