Zagreb - The Croatian Parliament amended the Value Added Tax Act on Thursday, extending the application of the lowered VAT rate to deliveries of natural gas, heating fuels and heating from heating stations until the end of March 2025.
The extension is estimated to result in a reduction in VAT revenues of €46 million annually.
Also amended was the Health Care Act to regulate specialist medical training. In the event of an early termination of the employment contract, resident doctors will be required to compensate the medical institution only for the costs of specialist training, without any other costs.
Parliament adopted the Lobbying Act, regulating this activity for the first time. Under this act, all physical and legal persons professionally engaged in lobbying will be entered in the Register of Lobbyists kept by the Conflict of Interest Commission. Lobbyists will also be required to submit annual work reports.
Lawmakers amended the Judicial Salaries and Entitlements Act, increasing the base for the calculation of judicial officers' salaries by 11.5%.
