Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Tuesday sent his greetings to all believers who celebrate Christmas according to the Julian calendar, expressing the wish that the spirit of this great Christian feast inspire mutual respect among all people in Croatia.
"On behalf of the members of the Croatian Parliament and personally, I extend my warmest congratulations to all those joyfully welcoming Christmas according to the Julian calendar, with the traditional greeting: God's peace – Christ is born! May the Light that shone in the Bethlehem cave illuminate your hearts, strengthen faith and love, and bring an abundance of peace, good health and true festive joy to your homes and families," the greeting says.
Christmas, he said, always encourages believers to remember all those who welcome it amid various hardships – the poor, the sick, the lonely or forgotten, as well as those living in areas affected by war and unrest.
"May the birth of Jesus bring them comfort and new hope, and remind all believers that they are called to live solidarity by helping their most vulnerable fellow citizens through concrete acts of kindness. Wishing that the spirit of this great Christian feast inspire mutual respect among all people in our homeland, I once again sincerely wish you a blessed and joyful Christmas,"Jandroković wrote.
