Zagreb - Croatia has worked hard and it had an objective in mind so as to prepare for joining the European Union which is why it will deservedly become the 28th member of the bloc, Danish European Affairs Minister Nicolai Wammen said on Tuesday, welcoming the European Commission final monitoring report on Croatia.
EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Füle presented the European Commission's report in Zagreb earlier today.
Wammen hailed the report according to which Croatia is fulfilling its commitments and requirements from its accession negotiations with the European Union in all policy areas and will be ready for EU membership on 1 July 2013, Wammen said in a statement, carried by the Danish Embassy in Zagreb, it was important for Croatia to continue implementing reforms, recalling that this was also his recommendation during his visit to Zagreb in February.
The Danish parliament is yet to vote on the ratification of Croatia's EU accession treaty. Wammen said he expected the document to be ratified in early May. (Hina)
