Zagreb - The Defence Committee of the Croatian Parliament gave at its session on Thursday a unanimous positive opinion on the joint procurement of ammunition and other equipment within the European Defence Agency projects.
The Republic of Croatia recognised the importance of replenishing the stock of military equipment in a timely manner and joined the European initiative in establishing the project of joint procurement of ammunition and other equipment within the framework of the European Defence Agency project, Defence Minister Mario Banožić said at the session of the Defence Committee. This, he added, is also a direct stimulus to the defence industry.
He also underscored that such projects contributed to the strengthening of national capabilities, which directly contributed to regional and global security, through donations and aid to countries that need help, as well as through the timely replenishment stocks of military equipment of member states.
The Ministry of Defence (MORH) announced that this was related to the implementation of a project agreement on the joint procurement of ammunition within the framework of the European Defence Agency project, which was signed by Minister Banožić on the sidelines of the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels in March 2023, with both ministers of foreign affairs and ministers of defence attending.
The session was also attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Admiral Robert Hranj and his colleagues.
