Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Tuesday once again condemned the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023 and emphasised the need for the hostages to be returned unconditionally.
Jandroković also expressed serious concern over the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Jandroković and Sa’ar, who was on an official visit to Croatia and also met with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister, discussed the situation in the Middle East, global security challenges, and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Jandroković voiced hope for a swift end to the armed conflict.
It added that the Speaker reaffirmed Croatia’s support for a sustainable two-state solution, stressing that such a resolution should be achieved "through dialogue and with the support of the international community," and that Zagreb stands ready to actively contribute to all processes that lead to lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
Minister Sa’ar provided the Speaker with a detailed account of the military, security and humanitarian situation in Gaza, as well as the broader, highly complex security and geopolitical challenges across the Middle East.
He also said that Israel is still searching for 48 hostages.
In the final part of the talks, the discussion turned to the current situation in Croatia’s neighbourhood, particularly Bosnia and Herzegovina, where it was emphasised that it is essential to ensure the legitimate representation of the Croat people at all levels of government in that country.
