Zagreb - Relations between Croatia and Denmark are excellent, and trade is continuing its positive trend, Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković and his Danish counterpart Soren Gade concluded during their meeting in Copenhagen on Tuesday.
The two parliamentary leaders particularly welcomed the positive trends in trade, which amounted to €435 million in 2023 and is continuing to grow.
Jandroković highlighted key areas with significant potential for future cooperation, including the defence industry, energy and renewable energy projects, the food industry, the IT sector, tourism, and environmental protection.
The two officials noted past significant investments by Danish companies in Croatia, with a focus on the recent collaboration between the Port of Rijeka and a consortium owned by Danish company Maersk and Croatian company ENNA Logic on the Zagreb Deep Sea Terminal project in Rijeka.
Jandroković emphasised that this major infrastructure investment, worth €500 million, will not only create jobs but also strengthen Croatia's position as a key transport and energy hub in this part of Europe.
The two officials agreed that in the current geopolitical context, strengthening relations between countries that share common values - such as peace, freedom, democracy, and the rule of law - is of utmost importance. They discussed the situation in Ukraine, which both countries strongly support, as well as developments in the Middle East and Southeastern and Northern Europe.
Both sides also welcomed the co-organisation of the Handball World Championship by Croatia, Denmark and Norway as an additional strong link between "our countries and peoples".
