Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Tuesday received the Peace Light of Bethlehem from representatives of the Croatian Scouts Association, who traditionally bring it to the Croatian Parliament.
"I believe that the Light of Bethlehem, the light of peace, love and hope, will convey some of the messages it symbolises to the MPs and to politics," Jandroković said as he received the Light of Bethlehem from the scouts.
He pointed out that this year, due to security reasons, the scouts were unable to travel to Bethlehem, where they typically bring the light from. Instead, they brought last year's light from Austria.
"This situation shows that we live in an extraordinarily insecure world, affected by wars, and in this context, the Peace Light of Bethlehem carries even more significant symbolism. It spreads peace, faith, love and hope, and in today's times, it sends an especially important message that more connection is needed among nations, as well as tolerance and mutual respect," Jandroković said, thanking the delegation of the Croatian Scouts Association for carrying the Light of Bethlehem.
The Chief Scout of the Croatian Scouts Association, Boris Vujnović, thanked the Speaker of Parliament for his continuous support, recognising this extremely important activity for the scouting community and helping to promote peace in the world.
