Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Wednesday offered condolences to his Albanian counterpart Gramoz Ruci and Albanian citizens, after an earthquake hit the country, claiming the lives of 27 people and leaving hundreds injured.
Italy, France, Romania, Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Serbia have sent 200 specialist troops as well as equipment and search dogs to Albania to assist local teams in helping the victims, Albanian Defence Minister Olta Xhacka said.
The 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the country's capital Tirana and its surroundings in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
The epicentre was about 30 kilometres west of Tirana and the quake was felt throughout the Balkans, even in southern Italy.
