Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković extends condolences to families of earthquake casualties

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Tuesday extended his condolences to the families of casualties in a devastating earthquake that struck Croatia with its epicentre in the town of Petrinja, some 60 kilomeres southeast of Zagreb, and which also caused extensive damage to the towns of Sisak and Glina.

- I just received news that three people have been reported as casualties, said Jandroković, expressing great sorrow and sympathy with the families of the causalities. I hope that there will not be anymore casualties, he said.

He expressed full support to everyone engaged in cleaning up the debris after the earthquake and said that Parliament House had experienced new damage after it was damaged in the March earthquake in Zagreb.

The building did not experience any new damage when it comes to structure but it has experienced some damage which is not that drastic for the building to be unusable again, said Parliament Speaker Jandroković after structural engineers inspected the building.

That's good, we will have that repaired very quickly, he said.

The damage will be repaired on Wednesday and Thursday. Staff who were evacuated today could return to work on Monday.
