Zagreb - The Croatian Parliament on Friday endorsed by a majority vote Prime Minister Andrej Plenković's report from the first meetings of the European Council this year.
A total of 77 MPs voted for the Prime Minister's report, 25 abstained and 25 voted against.
The first, extraordinary meeting was held on 9 February and was attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, while the second, regular meeting was held on 23 March.
The heads of state or government discussed the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and Plenković emphasised that Ukraine's victory in the war "would deter Russia in the long run from further conquest policy, because the huge human and material losses it experienced are harmful not only for Russia, but also for Ukraine".
The prime minister said he advocated the "sustainability thesis" at those meetings.
He stated that "the strength, patriotism and motivation of the Ukrainian people and the leadership and ability of their armed forces" should be of a "permanent character", that it is necessary to "maintain political unity in support of Ukraine, which implies strong military aid and strong financial support", while the third element refers to those governments that support Ukraine.
The economy, migration and the situation in South-Eastern Europe were also on the agenda of the European Council.
