Zagreb - The Croatian Parliament on Wednesday adopted the annual report on the work of Government by a majority vote, and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said that the current year was special in many ways, noting that the months ahead of us will be difficult and full of new challenges.
Prime Minister expressed his belief that together we would successfully overcome all difficulties so that Croatia would stay as safe as possible. He called for responsibility, sacrifice and solidarity.
Plenković said that the Government would continue to ensure that the public health system is ready to fight against the pandemic and that all necessary equipment is available in order to save human lives, the health of citizens and the economy.
According to him, in the next year the main objectives will be to reducing uncertainty and strengthening health, social and economic security.
As the most important objectives in the long run he underscored demographic revitalisation, reduction of emigration through economic and tax policies, balanced regional development and equal opportunities for citizens, the upgrade of railways, roads, hospitals, schools and kindergartens.
He announced increased investment in agriculture, reducing dependency on energy imports, continuation of investment in education, as well as greater investment in digitalisation.
Prime Minister also emphasized the promotion of a more tolerant society, the suppression of hate speech and fake news that incite discrimination, intolerance, radicalisation and violence. He reiterated strong support for the fight against corruption.
By a majority vote, with 78 votes in favour, the Parliament also adopted Prime Minister's reports on the European Council meeting in Brussels in October.
