Jandroković: Operation Flash showed what would follow in Operation Storm

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković said on Friday that Operation Flash was a key moment of the Homeland War showing what would happen a few months later in Operation Storm.

He made the remarks during a commemoration marking the 31st anniversary of Operation Flash in Okučani.

He added that the “backbone of the Greater-Serbian aggressor was broken”, that Croatia won the war militarily, and later completed its territorial reintegration through the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube region in 1998.

Jandroković expressed lasting gratitude to Croatian defenders, especially the 51 “Croatian heroes” who lost their lives in Operation Flash, saying they and their families bore the greatest sacrifice for freedom and peace.

He stressed the importance of remembering such events for younger generations, saying “Croatia paid for its freedom in blood”.

Referring to current global conflicts, including Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the war in the Middle East, he said Croatia had experienced similar turmoil in the early 1990s.

He said Croatia fought a just, defensive and liberating war, won it, and this truth must be passed on to younger generations in order to ensure a safer and better future.
