Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković received Slovenia's outgoing President Borut Pahor for the talks on energy, the war in Ukraine, and economic cooperation.
Jandroković and Pahor recalled their cooperation, including the period of unblocking Croatia's accession negotiations for membership to the European Union.
Concerning the economic cooperation, trade and the number of tourists are constantly increasing. Slovenia is Croatia's third biggest foreign trade partner and the second country in terms of foreign guests' arrivals.
Thirty percent of all Croatian investments are invested in Slovenia, which makes it the most desirable market for Croatian investors.
Jandroković informed Pahor that the LNG terminal on Krk Island has proved to be a valuable alternative gas supply route to Central and Southeast Europe, and both officials commended the cooperation regarding the work of the joint Krško Nuclear Power Plant.
They called for European unity and solidarity in responding to the geopolitical and geo-economic challenges stemming from Russia's aggression against Ukraine. They believe that in addition to support to Ukraine, Southeast European countries should also be supported on their journey European institutions.
Jandroković thanked Slovenia for supporting Croatia's entry into the euro area and said that he expects further support from Slovenia for full membership in the Schengen Area and in the OECD.
