Zagreb - Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă on Tuesday received Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković and they said Romania-Croatia ties were strong and based on bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Jandroković said at the meeting in Bucharest the ties were based on long-standing bilateral cooperation and cooperation within the EU, NATO and "various regional organisations".
The two officials said they were pleased with the growth in trade and that there was room to further boost it in the defence industry, tourism and transport.
Ciucă said the cooperation between the ports of Vukovar and Constanza was excellent and a model of utilising the transport potential of the Danube.
They also talked about supporting Ukraine in defending its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as EU enlargement to Southeast Europe, Moldova and Ukraine.
Jandroković said the EU should step up its engagement in the Western Balkans and that it was necessary to work on the resilience of the region's countries to Russian influence.
He also said that Croatia "supports the Romanian minority in Croatia. It's not numerous, but is a valuable part of our tradition and we will continue with the support."
