Zagreb - The Croatian Parliament on Thursday marked World Down Syndrome Day, which is observed on March 21.
Stjepan Čuraj of the ruling HNS party expressed support for 1,700 persons with Down Syndrome registered in Croatia, saying that they needed interdepartmental cooperation and better laws to improve their status.
To show his support, Čuraj wore mismatched socks as a symbol of persons with Down Syndrome, advocating respect for individual differences and the rights of every individual.
Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković received a delegation of the Down Syndrome Association from Zagreb.
