Zagreb - Ahead of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, a Croatian Parliament delegation led by Speaker Gordan Jandroković laid wreaths and lit candles at Zagreb's Mirogoj Cemetery on Wednesday for those who had given their lives for the country and played an important role in the creation of an independent Croatia.
"These days we remember our loved ones who left us. We are here today to show our respect and remember all those people who gave their lives for their Croatian homeland, as well as those who played an important role in the creation of an independent, democratic and free Croatia," Jandroković said.
"Here we pay tribute to the Croatian defenders, the civilian victims of the Homeland War, the first Croatian president, Dr Franjo Tuđman, and those whose bodies have not been identified yet," he added.
