Speaker Šprem Meets Kosovo's President Ms Jahjaga

Zagreb – Croatian Parliament Speaker Mr Boris Šprem met with the President of the Republic of Kosovo Ms Atifete Jahjaga, who is undertaking an official visit to Croatia. They focused on the topics of the present situation in the region and the ways of strengthening the already cordial and friendly bilateral relations.
 
Mr Šprem and President Jahjaga agree the intensification of economic and parliamentary cooperation would be to the two countries’ mutual benefit. Kosovo is particularly interested in learning from Croatia’s experience of preparations for European Union membership.

The Speaker is satisfied with the announced amendments to the Kosovo Constitution aimed at ensuring that the Croatian minority has one seat in the Parliament. He supports Kosovo’s policy to develop cooperation in various areas with its neighbouring countries as well as with other countries in the region of Southeast Europe. He is confident the EU prospect and economic cooperation are the key to solving unresolved issued between the states in the region.
