The Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Mr. Boris Šprem passes away

Zagreb - After a long and exhausting struggle with a disease, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Mr. Boris Šprem passed away at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston early this morning (European time). 

He suffered from an extremely malignant form of multiple myeloma. Despite intensive therapy there was a further progression of the disease, and the situation deteriorated yesterday leading to vital functions failure. The body of Boris Šprem will be transferred to Croatia in the following days. 

Boris Šprem was born in Koprivnički Bregi on 14 April 1956. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb. He was unanimously elected Speaker of the Croatian Parliament at the constituent session of Parliament on 22 December 2011.
