President of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thąci in an official visit to the Croatian Parliament

Zagreb - Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Josip Leko received in an official visit the President of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thąci who is visiting Croatia.

Croatia and Kosovo have friendly relations and we want to develop them further in the spirit of cooperation, said Leko at the beginning of the meeting with the Kosovo delegation evaluating Kosovo steps in building society and state as significant. He emphasized that Croatia is determined on its European project. We have been building the society compatible with democratic societies in the European Union. In that sense we support democratic processes in Kosovo, the role of NATO and presence of EULEX. He welcomes the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and participation of Kosovo in regional initiatives. He expressed his conviction that Croatia and Kosovo have not explored all the opportunities for economic cooperation as well as expectation for the Croatian minority to be present in the Parliament.

President of the Government Thąci expressed his gratefulness for Croatian ongoing support to Kosovo and congratulated on successful association process to European Union. Croatian membership to NATO and EU is the best message to all the countries in the region and we believe that this will represent an impetus to them, he said adding that it is Kosovo’s aim to join NATO and EU as well. He believes that independent Kosovo has brought peace and stability to the region and reaffirmed that Kosovo is willing to develop good neighboring relations with Serbia maintaining the dialogue in order to normalize their relations. He announced that within the next constitutional amendments Croatian minority will have its representative in the Parliament.
