Zagreb - Members of Parliament on Thursday supported by a majority vote the decision of the Credentials and Privileges Commission (MIP) to terminate Milan Kujundžić's suspension of the term of office as MP, the request for which this member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) submitted after being dismissed as Health Minister.
There were 81 votes in favour of the decisions and three abstentions.
Upon Kujundžić's return to the Parliament, the term of office of his deputy Dragica Vranješ (HDZ) ceased.
The MPs supported unanimously, with 95 votes in favour, MIP's decision to terminate the term of office of MP Romana Jerković of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who is to join the European Parliament. She had been elected as the last, twelfth Croatian MEP in the European elections and had to wait for the UK to leave the European Union.
Her substitute, Mirela Ahmetović, Mayor of Omisalj on the northern Adriatic island of Krk, took the oath of office. Ahmetović is known to the general public as a critic of the project to build a floating LNG terminal on the island.
Deputy Parliament Speaker Željko Reiner, who chaired the session, reported that 11 new items had been included on the agenda of the 16th session.
