Zagreb - An interparliamentary conference on the proposal of a new legal framework for the European Union's common agricultural policy for the next programme period will be held in the Croatian Parliament on November 22-23, the Chairman of the Croatian Parliament's Agriculture Committee, Tomislav Panenić, and Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolušić announced on Monday.
Among about a hundred participants in the conference will be representatives of the European Commission and the European Parliament, Tolušić and Panenić told a press conference before a meeting of the Agriculture Committee.
Panenić said that the European common agricultural policy was not a party issue but a national issue on how to secure the best position for Croatia, while Tolušić said that it could easily happen that the common agricultural policy would be adopted during Croatia's EU presidency in the first half of 2020, "which would certainly give us political weight."
Tolušić said that the conference would focus on national strategic plans, generational renewal in agriculture, local government and rural development, research in agriculture and food safety. (Hina)
