Zagreb - In 2022, slightly more than 1,500 citizens contacted the parliamentary Citizens Service with a specific inquiry or to comment, complain or provide a suggestion to the Sabor, according to a report by the service.
Last year, citizens sent four percent more enquiries than the year before, when 1,446 citizens contacted the Citizens Service.
Of the 355 specific enquiries, almost half or 172 were addressed to Members of Parliament, which the Service only forwarded on, and there is no feedback as to whether the citizens received any answers. This is an increase of 4% compared to 2021. There were more comments, proposals, and suggestions, but also complaints from citizens sent by email in 2022 (1,154), also up 4% from 2021.
More than 7,000 citizens visited the Sabor
In 2022, 7,778 citizens in 186 organised groups visited or toured the Sabor, and more than half (3,551) attended some of the parliamentary debates. This is less than in previous years because citizen visits to the Sabor were suspended until the beginning of May 2022 due to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus.
The most numerous visitors were primary and secondary school students and students from Croatian and foreign universities. Other visitors, (1,400) were individual citizens, representatives of various civic associations, and members of various delegations.
