Zagreb - Members of the Croatian Parliament on Wednesday joined in a campaign against violence against women by leaving their handprints on board and writing messages against violence against women.
Roma minority MP Veljko Kajtazi and Marija Puh of the parliamentary group of Milan Bandic's Labour and Solidarity Party were the first to join in the day-long campaign, leaving the messages "Laws must be respected" and "Courage is a woman's best protection".
Held as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, November 25, the campaign, organized by the parliament's gender equality committee, marks the start of the annual international campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence".
