Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Boris Šprem held meetings with the Japanese, Portuguese and the Dutch ambassador to Croatia.

With the Japanese Ambassador Masaru Tsuji the Speaker discussed the possibilities of intensifying the two countries’ bilateral cooperation in the light of Croatia’s accession to the European Union. With the Ambassador of Portugal Paulo Tiago Jerónimo da Silva and the Dutch Ambassador Stella Ronner-Grubačić, Šprem discussed the ratification of the Croatian EU Accession Treaty in their respective parliaments. They both informed him the process took time but neither doubted its positive outcome. Šprem and the Dutch Ambassador talked about the plans for the visit of the Dutch Parliament European Affairs Committee due in June, while at the meeting with Jerónimo da Silva he seized the opportunity to invite to Croatia the Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament Ms. Assunção Esteves.Leko and Ljubić

Croatian Parliament Deputy Speaker Josip Leko received Božo Ljubić, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Parliamentary relations between the two countries are extremely important and should be enhanced, they concluded. “We share the same legal and economic background. This compatibility should be highlighted in order to use it for strengthening the political relations between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, stated Leko. 

Serbian DelegationThe Delegation of the Legislation Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia finished their return visit to the Legislation Committee and the Judiciary Committee of the Croatian Parliament. The delegation held a number of meetings with Croatian MPs, the Secretary of the Croatian Parliament and representatives of the staff. 

Petar Čobanković, Chairman of the Agriculture, Fishing and Rural Development Committee held a meeting with the representatives of the Regional Center for Gender Equality, who presented the project “South East European Women in Rural Development Network”. Mary Ann Rukavina-Cipetić, Executive Director of the Center, explained it was a project implemented in seven SEE countries aimed at empowering women rural entrepreneurs. The project will involve local and national governmental bodies, as well as parliamentary committees and NGOs. 

Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee Milorad Pupovac received the Austrian Ambassador to Croatia Ms Andrea Ikić- Böhm.

Srđan Gjurković, Chairman of the Finance and Central Budget Committee, Andrej Plenković, Chairman of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Accession (Croatia - EU Joint Parliamentary Committee), and Melita Mulić , member of the European Integration Committee, took part in the Conference on Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2014-2020 in the European Parliament in Brussels, where they presented Croatia’s standpoints on financing cohesion and agricultural policies.
