Members of children's councils, forums speak about children's rights in Sabor

Zagreb - The 14th meeting of members of children's councils and forums, and members of the National Forum of the Eurochild Children's Council of Croatia, took place at the Croatian Parliament on Monday, with the children presenting topics related to their rights to parliamentarians and other attendees.

The event brought together participants aged 9 to 15 from 20 cities and municipalities across Croatia. Through their involvement in local communities, these children actively contribute to improving the status of children and youth.

"This year's meeting was organised as part of the project 'Impact, Not Decoration', implemented by the Alliance of Societies 'Naša djeca' (Our Children) in collaboration with the Croatian Association of Counties, and co-funded by the EU and the Government Office for NGOs," said Vesna Vučemilović, Chair of the Sabor Committee for Family, Youth, and Sports, which hosted the event.

The children presented their activities at local, national, and European levels. They addressed a variety of topics they consider important, including traffic solutions, hate speech in both digital and real-life contexts, challenges in communication, and the right to diversity. They also discussed free expression of opinions, the positive and negative aspects of media, life on islands, global conflicts, poverty, and participation in working bodies of international organisations advocating for children's rights.
