Zagreb – A delegation of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, headed by Lord Dundee, visited the Croatian Parliament. They were received by the Croatian Parliament Speaker Mr Boris Šprem as well as by the chairmen and members of the Foreign Policy Committee and the European Integration Committee.
At the meeting with the Speaker the main topics covered were those of the continuation of the reforms Croatia has been implementing, of the ratification of Croatia’s EU Accession Treaty and of promoting economic cooperation between Croatia and the United Kingdom. British companies are becoming increasingly interested in investing in Croatia as well as in strengthening economic relations with Croatia, confirmed the members of the British delegation. The Earl of Dundee, who is also Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia, offered the Croatian Parliament help and assistance in educating parliamentary staff for national parliamentary scrutiny.
At the meeting with the two parliamentary committees, Mr Milorad Pupovac, Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, briefly informed the UK parliamentary delegation of Croatian foreign policy goals, accentuating the accession to the European Union and commitment to maintaining stability and peace in the region of Southeast Europe. Mr Daniel Mondekar, Chairman of the European Integration Committee, informed the guests on the changes being introduced in the work of the Parliament, its committees and staff in order to prepare them for functioning within the European Union.
