Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko on Thursday received for talks the incoming Chinese Ambassador Deng Ying, saying he hoped that she would continue developing the very good relations between the two countries, notably in the economy, Leko's office said in a statement.
-Croatia supports the One-China policy as well as China's peaceful policy in international relations, Leko said, adding that the potential for cooperation between the two countries had increased after Croatia's accession to the European Union and expressing hope that Chinese investments in Croatia would grow, notably in the sectors of infrastructure, energy and tourism.
Deng underlined the great potential for continuing the economic cooperation. She added that differences between the two countries' government and social systems were an obstacle to the cooperation that had been identified so far, expressing hope the two parliaments could work on adjusting their legislation to facilitate mutual investments.
Chinese companies are interested in making investments in Croatia. It is crucial that we find mutually useful projects, Deng said, adding that the visa regime was an additional problem for Chinese business people.
Leko called on Chinese businesses to participate in international tenders in Croatia regardless of the differences in the two countries' social systems.
Deng told Leko that the Chinese parliament was preparing for his official visit to China and expressed hope he would visit her country this year. (HINA)
