Zagreb - Croatian MPs on Wednesday welcomed the proposal that taxi drivers will be supposed to have their cards while providing services and that passengers will be able to check those cards using a QR code.
The company called "Agencija za komercijalnu djelatnost", a Croatian strategic IT and manufacturing company for producing personal ID cards, passports, visas, driving licenses and other high-security printing products, will issue those cards for can drivers, a government official, Tomislav Mihotić, told the Sabor while presenting the proposal.
During the discussion on the draft amendments to the road transportation legislation, MPs called for an increase in the usage of public transportation system.
Damir Bajs of the Fokus party said that less than 10% of Croatian workers use public transportation to commute to their work locations.
He warned that bus lines have been cut by a quarter over the last 10 years.
The Fokus party proposes that the 25% standard rate of the Value Added Tax i(VAT) n the public transportation system should be slashed to a 5-percent rate in order to make the public transportation more affordable than commuting in private cars.
