Zagreb - Croatian MPs on Friday endorsed the ratification of investment protection agreements between EU member states and Vietnam and Singapore, which are aimed at improving the investment climate.
The agreements ensure for EU investors in Vietnam and Singapore fair and equitable treatment and protection from discrimination in relation to domestic investors, as well as regulating dispute solving between investors, said Zdenko Lucić, a state secretary at the Foreign ministry.
Any foreign investment increase, not just in Croatia but in other EU member states as well, has a positive effect on the Croatian economy, said Zdravka Bušić of the ruling HDZ.
Singapore put certain restrictions on drinking water supplies and real estate ownership in the agreement, managing to put the EU in an unfavourable investment position concerning water supply in order to protect this resource, whereas Croatia deliberately destroys it, said Zvonimir Troskot of the opposition Bridge.
