Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko met with US Ambassador Kenneth Herbert Merten in Zagreb on Thursday to discuss an annual meeting of NATO's Parliamentary Assembly which is due to take place in Dubrovnik in October.
"This year's session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Dubrovnik is a confirmation of our partnership and friendship with the United States of America," Leko said. Merten said that the annual meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Dubrovnik showed that "Croatia is a serious player and model in the region", welcoming the announcement that the meeting would also discuss economic issues. Leko said that Croatia wanted to remain active in the United Nations and NATO, and expressed hope that Croatia would fulfil its interests and hopes in the united Europe as well.
The meeting also involved the head of the Croatian Parliament Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Boris Blažeković who informed the US ambassador about preparations for the autumn meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. (Hina)
