Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković said on Thursday that by commemorating Yom HaShoah Croatia was remembering with great respect the innocent victims of the genocide against the Jewish people during World War II.
We are paying tribute to the six million innocent victims and to all the survivors and their families who bear witness to the horrors and consequences of the Holocaust, Jadroković said.
The systematic annihilation of a people in infamous death camps shows what kind of evil hatred, racism, xenophobia, and intolerance can cause, Jandroković said in his message.
"Unfortunately, the world does not live in peace today either. History teaches us that societies are particularly vulnerable in times of rapid change and crisis. It is a reminder that we must bequeath to our children and youth messages of peace, solidarity, acceptance of differences, and mutual respect so that such crimes never happen again," Jandroković said.
