Zagreb – This week Croatian Parliament Speaker Boris Šprem received the visits of David Slinn, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Msgr. Mario Roberto Cassari, Papal Nuncio to the Republic of Croatia.
During his meeting with Ambassador Slinn, Šprem expressed his satisfaction with the development of the two countries’ bilateral relations and Croatia’s wish to further strengthen its partnership with the United Kingdom, especially in the field of economy. “The field of cooperation we are particularly interested in, is helping Croatian institutions develop their capacities for the membership of the European Union”, answered Slinn adding that the unique moment of the eve of the country’s accession into the European Union should be seized as an opportunity to increase British companies’ investments in Croatia. Talking about the ratification of Croatia’s EU Accession Treaty by the British Parliament, Splinn underlined it was “absolutely important for the report on the monitoring to be positive”.
Papal Nuncio msgr. Mario Roberto Cassari paid a farewell courtesy call to the Speaker. Šprem expressed his gratitude for the Nuncio’s personal contribution to the development of friendly relations between Croatia and the Holy See and particularly for the Holy See’s support to Croatia’s accession to the European Union.
