Zagreb - Sabor Speaker Gordan Jandroković said on Monday, during a visit to Albania, that he and his hosts in Tirana discussed positive trends in relations between the two countries and the need to improve air connectivity.
Jandroković and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama confirmed “traditionally friendly relations” and excellent cooperation within NATO.
Jandroković and Rama also agreed that “numerous high-level bilateral meetings” are evidence of “positive trends in relations over the past few years”.
They agreed that connectivity between Croatia and Albania by air needs to be improved.
The Albanian Prime Minister briefed the Croatian official on his country’s journey towards EU membership, and Jandroković congratulated him on the “exceptional progress” in opening all negotiating clusters and chapters in just 13 months.
Jandroković stressed that Croatia remains ready to assist Albania in its bid to join the European Union, including by sharing its own experience.
The Sabor Speaker also met with his Albanian counterpart Niko Peleshi, with whom he agreed on the need to intensify parliamentary cooperation and economic exchange, particularly in the areas of defence, energy, infrastructure development, as well as tourism, the IT sector and digitalisation, agriculture and the timber industry.
At their meeting, they highlighted the importance of further developing energy and transport infrastructure projects, with particular emphasis on the Adriatic–Ionian road corridor and the Ionian–Adriatic gas pipeline.
The head of the Croatian parliament will conclude his visit to Albania with a meeting with President Bajram Begaj.
