Parliament enters final week of sitting before two-month summer break

Zagreb - Parliament enters its final week of sitting on Tuesday before a two-month summer break, during which week six agenda items will be discussed, and the session will conclude on Friday with a vote on the bills discussed and personnel decisions.

On Tuesday, MPs will discuss amendments to the Air Protection Act, while on Wednesday, the agenda includes amendments to the Financial Inspectorate Act and a Central Population Register bill.

Before the summer recess, parliament must also decide who will lead the Croatian National Bank for the next six years, as governor Boris Vujčić's term ends on 13 July. The terms of his deputy Sandra Švaljek and two vice governors, Slavko Tešija and Roman Šubić, are also ending.

Parliament appoints a governor based on a proposal of its Elections and Appointments Committee, with input from the Finance and Central Budget Committee, which means the two committees will also convene this week.

The summer recess lasts until mid-September.
