Zagreb - Poland and Croatia are close countries and allies with the potential to increase their cooperation in defence, security and energy, with the Krk LNG terminal seen as a new reliable supply route for countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland, the Croatian Parliament speaker and the Polish foreign minister said on Thursday.
Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković met with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau during his official visit to Zagreb on Thursday morning. Rau had met with Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman on Wednesday.
Bilateral relations were described as excellent and friendly, with no outstanding issues. In addition to good interaction within the European Union and NATO, the Three Seas Initiative, launched by Croatia and Poland, also provides an important platform for cooperation between the two countries. Croatia's contribution to NATO's enhanced Forward Presence mission in Poland was also pointed out.
Speaking of economic relations, the two officials highlighted the large investment potential of both countries. They expressed their satisfaction with increased trade last year and the continued rise in the number of Polish tourists visiting Croatia.
Jandroković and Rau strongly condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine and reiterated their firm commitment to providing further comprehensive assistance to Ukraine in political, humanitarian, military, technical and financial terms.
Rau said that Poland highly respects Croatia's expertise and views on the region of Southeast Europe.
