Gordan Jandroković appointed Croatian Parliament Speaker for third time

Zagreb - Gordan Jandroković on Thursday was appointed Speaker of the Croatian Parliament for the third time, a feat not accomplished by any of his 11 predecessors in the 34 years of the modern Sabor.

The appointment of the Speaker completed the formation of the 11th Parliament since Croatia gained independence in the early 1990s. He was appointed by 144 votes in favour and six against.

Jandroković is an experienced politician. He has been elected to Parliament seven times, the first time in 2003. He was appointed Speaker of Parliament for the first time in May 2017 and for the second time in July 2020.

He served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (2010-2011) and as head of the State Delegation for EU Accession Negotiations (2008-2011).

Jandroković joined the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in 1992. He has been a member of the party's Presidency since 2004.

He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Zagreb. He completed a one-year study program at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the postgraduate course "European and World Affairs" at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations Clingendael.  

Jandroković is married and has three children.
