Korea for opening Croatia's embassy in Seoul

Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko, who is on an official visit to South Korea, on Monday met with his Korean counterpart Chung Ui-hwa for talks on strengthening bilateral relations, notably on the economic front, with the South Korean official saying that the opening of a Croatian embassy in Seoul would be conducive to that goal.

The South Korean National Assembly Speaker expressed satisfaction with a rise in the number of Korean tourists visiting Croatia, pointing out the importance of personal contacts in strengthening trade and investment, according to a press release from the Croatian Sabor. In that context, Chung Ui-hwa advocated the opening of Croatia's embassy in Seoul.

Leko was quoted as saying that he hoped his visit would contribute to the strengthening of relations between the two nations and that its main purpose was to promote the bilateral economic cooperation. To that end, a Korean-Croatian business forum is due to be held in Seoul on Tuesday.

On Monday, Croatia's delegation also visited the Samsung Electronics company in the Korean capital and met representatives of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA). (Hina)
