Forum in Prague called for zero tolerance to anti-Semitism

Prague - The fourth international forum "Let my people live" ended with the adoption of an inter-parliamentary declaration calling for zero tolerance to anti-Semitism and hate crime. Parliament speakers, including Croatia's Leko, expressed deep concern about growing verbal, Internet and physical violence against Jews, notably in Europe.

Dangerous stereotypes such as the conspiracy theory that Jews plan to destroy humankind or Holocaust denial are frequent anti-Semitic strategies when things start turning for the worse, says the declaration.

It is therefore imperative that parliaments, governments, international organisations and civil societies accept the policy of zero tolerance to such occurrences, the document says.

It calls on parliaments to take necessary measures to promote the declaration's ideas, by legislative means if necessary, and by introducing programmes on tolerance and mutual respect in the educational process.

The signatories to the declaration are invited to establish an international committee and draw up an action plan for the fight against anti-Semitism and hate by the end of 2015, which would then be presented to the parliaments of the signatory-countries.
