Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković will participate in a NATO parliamentary summit on Monday and Tuesday in Washington, D.C., where he will present Croatia's views on the situation in Ukraine and the need to strengthen the alliance's role in global security.
The summit is being held to mark the 75th anniversary of NATO's establishment.
"There will be a large number of NATO countries' parliamentary speakers present, and we will discuss the situation in Ukraine, the strengthening of the alliance, and its role in global security," Jandroković said. "I will present Croatia's views there, and I expect a few bilateral meetings as well."
He will certainly talk with Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk and with Nanette Diaz Barragan, a Democratic Party representative in Congress and co-chair of the Croatian Congressional Caucus.
Jandroković's stay in the United States began on Sunday with a meeting with representatives of the Croatian community in New York and a visit to the Church of Sts. Cyril & Methodius and St. Raphael, where the first Croatian parish on the U.S. East Coast was founded in 1913.
Jandroković told those present that Croatians in the U.S., as well as elsewhere abroad, were a bridge between Croatia and the world playing an important role in promoting Croatian traditions, heritage, and culture. He said he was especially glad that the Croatian community in the U.S. had managed to integrate Croatian identity into the broad spectrum of American cultural diversity.
On Monday, Jandroković is scheduled to meet with New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
