MPs to discuss annual reports by State Audit Office, public broadcaster

Zagreb - Parliament will discuss on Wednesday reports on an audit of the annual report on the execution of the state budget for 2022 and on the operations of Croatian Radio Television (HRT).

The State Audit Office gave a qualified opinion on the report on the execution of the 2022 state budget, citing several reasons for that.

They said the Finance Ministry was supposed to adopt several bylaws by the end of June 2022, but at the time of the audit (April 2023), most of those acts were still being drawn up.

The government submitted a proposal to parliament to endorse that report as well as the report by HRT director Robert Šveb on the public broadcaster's operations in 2022.

The HRT report notes a surplus of revenues over expenditures in the amount of HRK 6.2 million, but after taxation, this turned into a deficit of HRK 1.3 million.

According to the report, the HRT saw a 3.9% increase in total revenue compared to 2021, totaling HRK 1.342 billion, which was 1.7% less than planned. At the same time, expenditures were 3.7% higher than in 2021, amounting to HRK 1.336 billion, which was 0.9% less than planned.

The monthly licence fee was the most significant source of income and amounted to HRK 1.138 billion, which was 0.9% more than in 2021 but 3.2% less than planned.
